“FCB” bag filter housings
Developed to work with industry-standard double length filter bags, as well as with the unique “BIB” high surface area filter bag. “FCB” bag filter housings are offered in a large number of alternative configurations

Materials of Construction
The “FCB” range is available in carbon steel, 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel. Carbon steel units are supplied untreated internally, with primer and two coats of enamel painting externally. Stainless steel units are supplied in glass bead blast, matt industrial finish. In all cases, the internal bag-retaining basket is in 304 stainless steel.

All housings are automatically supplied with:
• 1 x vent (1/4” plugged socket)
• 1 x drain (1/2” plugged socket)
• 2 x gauge ports (1/4” plugged sockets)
For higher flow rates the “FCB” range of bag housing can be offered, to special order, with as many as 13 bags in a single housing. These units are customised to customer requirements.
“BIB” Range of Filter Bags
This range of unique type BIB filter bags is designed to have 90% more surface area than a standard double length filter bag.
Since both the dirt-holding capacity and the flow rate which a filter bag can accommodate are a function of the bag’s surface area, the 90% increase in surface area over conventional bags which the BIB bag offers, ensures a substantial increase in dirt-holding capacity as well as permitting a flow rate through the bag of nearly double that permitted by a standard filter bag.
The type BIB filter bag works with a specifically designed bag-retaining basket which locates the bag in the filter housing and provides the mechanical strength needed to support the filter cloth. Where required, a retro-fit basket can often be supplied to allow a conventional bag housing to be converted to accept a BIB style bag, thereby greatly increasing the filter’s performance and lengthening the intervals between bag changeouts.
Specifications & Materials
The type BIB filter bags can be supplied in polyester and polypropylene needlefelt filter cloth, as well as nylon or polyester monofilament filter cloth. They can also be supplied in “single” and “double” lengths. They are availablein nominal filtration ratings of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 micron as standard, as well as in other micron ratings to special order.
Maximum water flow rate at 30ºC through a “double length” type BIB filter bag at a clean-bag pressure drop of <10 kPa is 50 m3/h in a housing with 80mm nominal bore connections or 80 m3/h in a housing with 100mm nominal bore connections.
Pressure drop over a fouled bag should never be allowed to exceed 70 kPa before bag changeout.
Maximum operating temperature for polypropylene bags is 60º C and that for polyester bags is 80ºC
All type BIB filter bags are fitted with a mouldedpolypropylene Posi-Seal bag mount to ensure a bypass-free seal between bag and housing.
